Anonymous India says that all cellular data including phone numbers, call duration and more are being sent to servers based in US and Singapore.

Two of Jio’s apps- My Jio and Jio Dialer are apparently sending user information to an ad platform Mad-Me. The ad network’s servers are based out of the US and that might explain why the cellular data is turning up at foreign servers

Here is the proof by Anonymous India to validate their claims of user data sharing by Reliance Jio

• Install burp suite free edition from here.
• Setup your Android device to route the traffic via burp suite.
• Ensure that you have My Jio app and Jio dialer app installed and updated.
• Begin capturing and turn off the intercept.
• It can be observed that calling data is sent at random interval to app.cobal.mad-me.com.
• Despite using the native dialer one will still see the packet being sent in proxy history.

The Anonymous collective of hackers has been at the forefront at the cyberspace, exposing flaws in the internet and waging a war against privacy-violators, cyber terrorists and internet bullies.

If the information provided by Hactivist group is true than Reliance Jio is clearly violating users’ privacy.

1) Data Is Not Unlimited

Reliance Jio has set a daily limit of 4 GB LTE data usage per day. 4GB per day is still quite high but it’s not unlimited. After 4 GB, the speed will be reduced to 128 Kbps.

2) Unlimited Night Plan Is Only Of 3 Hours

For Reliance night time is 3 hours only. Unlimited night time is from 2 AM to 5 AM only.

3) Network Problems

You will definitely get a high speed 4G if you are getting 4g signal. Since Jio only have 4G, you will either get high speed internet or no internet. So cross check Jio network in your area before you stand in long queues.

You can get the courage map of your area from support or from digi stores. There are several ways to contact support. You can specify your location and email id and support staff will mail you Reliance Jio coverage Map of your area.

4)1 GB may cost more than 50 Rs.

After excluding the unlimited night data and the wifi data then the price per GB of these plans will be

0.3GB for Rs149 = ~Rs 497/GB
4GB for Rs 499 = ~Rs 125/GB
10GB for Rs 999= ~Rs 100/GB
20GB for Rs 1499= ~Rs75/GB
35GB for Rs 2499= ~Rs71/GB
60GB for Rs3999= ~Rs66/GB
75GB for Rs 4999= ~Rs66/GB

Even the highest plan doesn’t get you data as low as Rs 50.
They included the wifi access in coming up with Rs50/GB price, but if you exclude it you will see that the lowest price is Rs66/GB.

But still their prices are much better than other players in the market

Reliance Communications on Tuesday introduced Reliance 4G LTE app-to-app calling — for calls anywhere in the country and worldwide.

Under the plan, the telecom giant will give 300 minutes of app-to-app talking, valid for 30 days at Re 1, translating into 10 minutes usage per day under the limited period offer.

~ Reliance Jio will NOT charge for voice calls on any network or for roaming calls within India

~ Jio will not follow the industry practice of blackout days on occasions like Diwali when free SMS offers are not applicable because the volume tends to be too high

He said tariff was based on three factors :

• the customer should pay for only voice or data
• data must be affordable
• the pricing structure should be simple.

Reliance Jio will be available to all from September 5.

Only the data will be charged with Voice Call and Messages free for a lifetime.
